We had a craft day where the girls decorated small mirrors and boxes. They loved it. It's fun to see the difference in personalities shine in this type of project. Baylee bailed to go outside and play after quickly finishing her mirror, while sat devoted to her painting for about an hour. Baylee came back to finish her box up and that was about it for her. They both enjoyed it in their own styles.
We had a cookout one night with some family friends. It was a very rare cold day in June. And it was the only one like that. But we had fun. It was the maiden voyage of the parafoil kite of Dan's, a new hobby of ours that will be focused on in some upcoming pictures/blogs. The kids all had fun running around like maniacs(is there any other way when you're a kid?). The girls were most excited for the Dirt cups we made the night before. They enjoyed making dirt layers and of course adding the gummy worm.
We decided rather than trying to go with Tanner and the surprises he might bring on a real camping trip, we set up the tents in the yard one night. We slept out there and let me tell you what....I was by far more comfortable camping last year while pregnant without a pillow or mattress in the forest than I was in our own yard. Things to note...our yard light is like the sun when you are trying to sleep, the highway can be heard at 3 am when motorcyclists continuously pass by, coyote season in our yard is not a good time to attempt said camping unless you enjoy hearing small animals cry when being eaten and Odin going crazy wanting to get out there, you must have balancing skills to sleep on an air mattress with someone heavier than you, and prepare to be wide awake at 4:30 in the morning with the glorious sun because it was not entertaining enough with all previous listed activities. I'm not that dense, next camp out will be a little better thought out or at least rustic for the benefit of the old people, the girls still had a great time.
